The town of Vidin is located in the northwestern Bulgaria, 200 km from Sofia, on the bank of the Danube river.
During the Roman period, the city was called Bononia, in mediaeval times as Budin and Bdin.
In the second half of 13 century, it became the main city of the Vidin Principality, and later, of the Vidin Kingdom. The Turks called the city Vidin. Read more
