Arapovo Monastery
The Arapovo Monastery, also known as Zlatovruh Monastery, is the only Bulgarian monastery built during the Ottoman rule and in an open valley. It was built in 1856-1859 and it is remarkable with the mural paintings in the church. There are scenes of the life of the brothers Cyril and Methodius, something unique for the Bulgarian school of painting. The creation of the Slavonic letters, the adoption of Christianity by Prince Boris I and the enlightenment of the Bulgarian people. There are also many historical scenes depicting peasants in national costumes.
